FLORENCE, AL – The University of North Alabama is, once again, hosting the Mane Event, a thrilling two-day Esports tournament featuring Mario Kart 8, Rocket League, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The Mane Event is set for Friday and Saturday, Nov. 22-23 in the Guillot University Center on the UNA campus.
“This event promises to be an incredible experience, brining together high school Esports enthusiasts for exciting competition, entertainment, and a glimpse into the UNA campus,” said Mark Linder, UNA Esports Team advisor and a Lecturer in Sport and Recreation Management.
The competition is open to 16 teams from area high schools, and participants will take the stage in front of a live stadium audience, creating an electric atmosphere for the players and spectators alike. Professional casters will also be on hand to provide live commentary on the matches, enhancing the excitement and upping the engagement through the event. Participants will also have the opportunity to explore the UNA campus and discover what the University has to offer as they consider their future academic journeys.
All matches will be livestreamed on Twitch, which will allow a wider audience to follow the action and cheer for their favorite teams. The Mane Event is free for participating schools as well as those who want to attend and support their teams.
