Department To Host Summer Theater Auditions

FLORENCE, Ala. — Auditions for the University of North Alabama summer theater production of Tennessee Williams' Pulitzer Prize-winning play "A Streetcar Named Desire" will be held April 19 at 6 p.m. in the George S. Lindsey Theatre. Those who wish to audition should prepare a 1 to 2 minute monologue in the style of Tennessee Williams and be prepared to read from the script. Headshots and resumes are recommended but not required. The play will be under the direction of two-time Tony nominated director Randal Myler. Film actress Elaine Hendrix, who is best known for her roles in Disney's modern version of "The Parent Trap" and in the film "Romy and Michele's High School Reunion," will play the role of Blanche. Russellville native Myk Watford, a film and television actor and the 2011 UNA summer theater director of "Death of a Salesman," will play the role of Stanley Kowalski. UNA professor Charlton James will play the role of Mitch. All other roles will be cast locally. Rehearsals start May 29. "A Streetcar Named Desire" will run from June 28 to July 8. Roles available are Eunice Hubbell, Stella Kowalski, Steve Hubbell, Pablo Gonzales, young collector, nurse, doctor and multiple ensemble roles.
