Michelle Eubanks, UNA, at meubanks@zo23.com, 256-606-2033 or 256-765-4392 FLORENCE, AL - The Bachelor of Business Administration Flex (BBA Flex) degree is now 100 percent online and the first at the University of North Alabama to use Competency Based Education as an instructional model that allows students to progress through the program at their own pace. "The BBA Flex program is designed for working adults who have not had the time or opportunity to complete a business degree in the past," said Dr. Greg Carnes, Dean of the College of Business at UNA. "We have designed the program for the individual who has work and/or family responsibilities to meet by offering an education program that is convenient, flexible, and affordable." UNA's online MBA program began in 2004, is nationally ranked, and is the largest MBA in Alabama with more than 1,050 students enrolled in Fall 2020. Carnes said he and his faculty put their expertise to use in the development of the online BBA Flex. "Because we are a student-focused university, the same faculty who teach in our award winning MBA program also teach in the BBA Flex program," he said. "Add to that our AACSB accreditation, the premier accreditation for Colleges of Business, and working professionals can have confidence that UNA will be a great educational partner for them." Students may choose to move at their own pace through the eight-week business courses or get more hands-on direction with 16-week, instructor-guided business courses - or a blend of both. BBA Flex students will have the opportunity to experience the many facets of how organizations work while growing their personal leadership qualities along with their management and communication skills. UNA has been a leader in online higher education for almost two decades, which allows today's employees to start or complete their degree while working full-time. "By aligning our degrees, certificates, and micro-credentials with 21st-century workforce demands, UNA has emerged as a leader, regionally and nationally, in workforce development," said Dr. Amber Paulk, Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and Dean of Graduate and OnlineEducation. "Our online courses and programs are designed to provide a faster, more economical experience for working adults."
